Support staff wellbeing by reducing burnout, managing workload, and building resilient teams.

Programme aim

This webinar delivered by City of Sunderland College focuses on the pressures staff face in post 16 settings, including burnout, emotional load, and workload, and how leadership actions shape team resilience.

You will explore how sustained pressure affects performance, decision making, and staff retention, and why early, practical intervention matters. The session sets out clear leadership approaches that improve morale and stability.

This includes managing workload through realistic expectations, protecting time for high impact work, and removing unnecessary tasks. You will examine how consistent communication, visibility, and recognition from leaders strengthen trust and reduce stress.

There is a strong focus on emotional load. You will learn how to support staff who work with complex learner needs, including creating safe spaces for reflection, using supervision effectively, and maintaining clear professional boundaries.
